From understanding comes strength
After securing some redundant land for school use, we have been hard at work turning a grassy, sloped area into a fantastic outdoor classroom. We have big plans! We aim to have a wide range of subject areas and pupils from across the school accessing this wonderful space to work and learn hands on.
So far, we have built a lean to with live roof, planted with wildflower seeds to attracts the butterflies and bees. We have made an outdoor teaching space with seats and a table. In the corner we have created a forest school space with log seats and room for our fire pit. Our compost bin is up and running and we have six bench planters ready for planting, to create fluid and natural seating areas.
Our plans are to team up with the local community to draw on expertise and create partnership working. We aim to create a vegetable plot so we can grow and cook our own food. Work has started on creating a wild garden area to encourage bees, butterflies, other insects and birds.
Watch this space to see how our garden grows.
