Welcome to the Guidance Department pages of the Banchory Academy website.  Explore the menus above to find out a bit more about how pupils are supported through the Guidance system at Banchory Academy.

We operate a vertical house system with a Principal Teacher of Guidance having pastoral responsibility for pupils in each year of the school.  In addition, each Depute Head is linked with at least one house.

The vertical system allows maximum continuity between guidance staff and pupils from S1 through to S6.  One of the main advantages of this system is that where possible, we can place pupils from the same family into classes so that they share the same Guidance teacher.  In this way communication between parents, pupils and staff is easier for all concerned and it encourages a better “family identity” between home and school.
