ROLE
THE ROLE OF THE PRINCIPAL TEACHER OF GUIDANCE
There are three essential aspects of Guidance fulfilled by the Principal Teachers in Banchory Academy – pastoral/personal, curricular and vocational/career.
The Extended Guidance Team
Whilst the guidance team have a specific role to play all teachers and key staff have a responsibility to support the pupils in a pastoral, curricular or vocational capacity as:
- register teachers
- classroom teachers
- members of the SMT
- members of the Support for Learners team
- school chaplains
- school nurse and doctor
- representatives from the wider school community such as Social Work Community Education, Skills Development Scotland, Community Police, Higher Education, Further Education, Educational Psychology and the Health Service.
